June 2011
Dear Parent/Carer
Leicester City 16-19 Bursary Fund |
 |
I am writing on behalf of the Leicester City Post 16 learning providers regarding the funding support your son or daughter may be eligible to apply for, when they move into post 16 study from September 2011.
If your son or daughter has applied for a place at one of the Leicester City post 16 schools and colleges, they should have received an “offer letter” confirming that they have a place on a course starting this September. The “offer letter” may also have included some information about what support can be applied for when they start the course.
The purpose of this letter is to encourage your son/daughter to register their interest in claiming support from the new “16-19 Bursary Fund”.
Although we do not currently know the size of this fund, it is for disadvantaged students who may experience hardship due to the removal of the Education Maintenance Allowance [EMA]. Please note, it is not a replacement of the EMA.
To register your interest for the “16-19 Bursary Fund” please contact the school or college who has offered your son or daughter a place on a course from this September. The contact details are included on the back of this letter. Please register now as any delay in registration may mean that the support is not provided until after your son/daughter’s course has started.
If your son or daughter has been offered a post 16 place with a Leicestershire County post 16 school or college from September 2011 it is advisable to contact the Student Services Manager in the relevant school or college.
Yours sincerely,
Leicester City Council
On behalf of the Leicester City Post 16 schools and colleges.
