LA Policy
|
| The Governors have accepted and adopted the LA Policy on Charges for School Activities which has been drawn up to fulfil the requirements of the Education Reform Act, 1988. We therefore. support the principle of maintaining the right to free school education. |
| Charges for School Activities |
The effect of the LA policy is that the school will not charge for any activities which take place during the school day but will depend on parents' voluntary contributions in order to provide activities such as swimming, trips and visits, and to some extent practical work in Food Technology and Design.
Limited funds are available to help children whose parents are in receipt of Income Support / Family Credit so that they are not debarred on financial grounds from taking part in these activities.
However, it must also be clearly understood that some activities, especially expensive trips will not be able to take place unless there is sufficient financial support from parents. Any parents in receipt of Income Support/Family Credit who would like to discuss the support available for their child should contact the Principal. |
| Complaints |
| There is an approved procedure for dealing with complaints about the school curriculum, including religious education and collective worship. |
| Information for Parents |
A booklet which outlines the general provision for education made by the LA is distributed to all parents who have students transferring from one school to the next and is available on request from the Education Department of Leicester City Council. |
| Insurance |
The City of Leicester Education Authority accepts responsibility and insures for normal visits or for those involving special risks. Parents are always asked to complete a form signifying whether or not they are willing for their children to be taken on a visit. |
| Religious Education & Collective Worship |
As a parent if you wish to withdraw your child from collective worship and religious education you have the right to do so under the Education Reform Act. Please contact the Principal if you wish to do so. |
| School Dress |
| Whilst the Local Education Authority has left the decision about school dress to the Governors I am required to inform you that “It is the opinion of the L.A.. that no student should be excluded from school for failing to wear school uniform”. |
