****JUNE 2020/2****

Dear Parents / Carers,

We hope this pack reaches you in the best of health at this ongoing difficult time.

In order to support you with the transition from Year 6 to Crown Hills, we have provided you with a little pack of information that we hope you will find useful. This is an unusual time but I hope that these documents and the live session detailed below will put your mind at rest before August.

Please find enclosed two items:

  1. Student subject work

This is for your child to complete prior to them coming in August. Please see the front sheet for more information on what they should do.  The work should be kept in a safe place.

  1. Year 6 Transition booklet

This includes all of the key information that you will need to help prepare your child for their start with us at Crown Hills. This information is also available on our school website in our parent’s area. I hope you find reading this useful.  Please do go through this with your child and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

Parent / Carer Question and Answer online event – Tuesday 30th June, 12.00 midday and 5.00pm

We are putting on two Live Question and Answer sessions for Year 6 parents next Tuesday 30th June at 12.00pm and 5.00pm. You do not need to attend both but please feel free to join either if you have a question or would like to hear from the Principal and other important members of staff who will be working with you and your child when they start with us.

Please check your emails (the one you have recently shared with us on the blue data collection sheet) which will contain joining instructions and a link for on the day to both meetings. Again, any questions, please do contact us at the college.

We will be sending you one further correspondence before the end of July to communicate to you the plans for starting school in August once we have more guidance on the wider opening of schools.

We look forward to meeting you soon,

Mr F Adam

****JUNE 2020****

Dear Parents / Carers,

I hope that this letter reaches you in the best of circumstances.  We know that some of your families have been affected by Covid-19 and as a college we would like to extend our thoughts to you.  Please stay alert and safe.  The safety of everyone is of paramount importance to us.

As a result, we have decided that there will not be any Year 6 Induction face to face events at Crown Hills this term for students or parents / carers.  We will ensure that all Year 6 have a full range of Induction activities when they join after the summer.  We will communicate again with more information about the start of next term during the summer holidays.

Our website ( is updated regularly; please do use this to access key information.

Please see below for important information:

  • Induction Day 2020 – there will NOT be an Induction Day for students on 30th

  • Parents Meeting – there will NOT be a meeting for parents at Crown Hills this term.

We are thinking of giving an opportunity for parents to hear from us through a video meeting on the 30th June.  This would include a question and answer session where parents / carers would be able to type questions. More details to follow.

  • ‘Data Collection Sheet’ (blue sheet)

Thank you to all parents that have returned this sheet to Crown Hills.  If you have not yet returned it, please do so as soon as possible.  Any issues please contact school reception.

  • SchoolComms

Please see the  enclosed information card for how to access the SchoolComms app. This is a vital app for parents / carers to use to top up dinner money, pay for trips, see your child’s timetable, etc.

“Schoolcomms – the easiest way to interact with school – monitor attendance and receive reports, easy access to all the information you need for your child, two way messaging through the app, book school trips & cashless payments.”

If you follow this link it will take you to the video and all the support pages about how to set up.

  • Uniform for the start of next term

At the start of term, all students should wear:

  • a white school shirt
  • black school trousers
  • smart black shoes
  • boys – the Crown Hills tie

*****We are awaiting government advice about clothing so please do not purchase a blazer yet

until we have communicated this to you*****.

Please look at the Uniform link in the Parents tab of the Crown Hills website.

There are descriptions and pictures shirts, trousers, ties and acceptable shoes.

There will also be details of the PE kit.

  • PE kit next term

Please could your child have PE kit for the start of term:

  • pale blue T-shirt
  • navy blue joggers

  • Stationery

We will be providing your child with a stationery pack, which will be kept in school to include: pencil, rubber, sharpener, black pen, green pen and ruler.  Students should keep their own stationery equipment at home to be used for work done at home.

If you have any further questions, please contact college reception.

Yours faithfully,

Mr F Adam

****MAY 2020****

Dear Parents / Carers,

A warm welcome and my best wishes to you and your families at this unprecedented time. We are very much looking forward to meeting you soon and to your son / daughter starting their Crown Hills journey with us. I hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and well at this time.

Although I am unable to give any definitive information on dates for parent / carer information events or transition days for your child, we would like to ensure we have the correct contact details and collect a bit more information from you in anticipation of your child’s start. Therefore, please find enclosed:

  • ‘Data Collection Sheet’ – This is the blue sheet for parents to complete

It is important that we have medical information for your child and more than one emergency contact.  Most communication with parents is done electronically.  We use the School Gateway App to communicate with parents / carers which requires accurate mobile numbers and email addresses.  Communication will be sent to the first contact on the sheet.

  • ‘All about me’ sheet and a postcard – This is for your son / daughter to complete

Please complete and return ALL to us in the envelope provided by Friday 22nd May.

I appreciate that starting secondary school is an exciting but potentially nerve-wracking time for both you as parents / carers and for your child. We are already liaising with the different primary schools and they are sharing with us key information about your child but in the meantime, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us but we will be in touch once we have some more information.

Yours faithfully,

Mr F Adam

****MARCH 2020****

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope you are well.

First of all, I would like to congratulate you for getting a place at Crown Hills Community College. Only those that put down CHCC as their first choice managed to secure a place so you are very fortunate to be one of those.

I am writing to you today because there is a lot of uncertainty regarding schools being open or not over the next few weeks and months and I just wanted to reassure you that we will ensure that your son/daughter is appropriately inducted into the Crown Hills Way.

However, due to the Coronavirus I do not want to provide you with any specifics just yet, only that we are scheduled to meet your children on 30th June and will be asking to meet with you for approximately an hour from 9am on that day.

Once we have greater clarity about schools remaining open, we will share more information with you and ask you to make some decisions.

I want to thank you for your patience and wanted to reassure you that we will do the best we can to ensure that your child has the best possible start to their life at Crown Hills.

Warm Regards
