Inspire Together

Crown Hills are host to Inspire Together.

At Inspire Together young people are the priority in everything they do. Their core values are the driving force behind all they deliver.

Formerly known as the Leicester City School Sports Partnership Activity Network, Inspire Together is made up of 6 strands. High Quality Competition, Health and Wellbeing, Inclusion, Community, Leadership and Community. Through working with Leicester Infant, Junior, Primary, Secondary and Special schools, they offer extensive delivery across all our strands. They also work with local partners to provide health, wellbeing and physical activity opportunities for the community.

Lead Inclusion School

Crown Hills Community College - Lead Inclusion School for Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland

Crown Hills Community College is the Lead Inclusion School for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR). We belong to a network of 60 Youth Sport Trust (YST) lead Inclusion Schools across England that have been established, each selected for their recognised expertise in engaging young people with Special Educational Needs/Disability (SEND) to participate, compete and lead through PE and School Sport.

These schools are inclusion champions and are visionaries for what high quality, meaningful and inclusive PE and school sport should look like for every child. We work to empower teachers to be more inclusive in their practice, provide meaningful competition and competition pathways for young people, raising their aspirations and providing inclusive leadership opportunities.

Although inclusion is a strong theme throughout all of our work through Inspire Together, we employ an Inclusion Development Officer & Female Engagement Officer to add specific focus to providing opportunities for the hardest to reach and most disadvantaged groups.

We currently work with the 10 local School Games Organisers (SGO’s) to support over 500 primary, secondary and special schools across LLR within the YST Inclusion programme.  We support SGO’s with their SEND provision and planning, school staff with CPD around inclusive PE, sport-specific courses as well as MATP (Motor Activity Training Programme) staff training for pupils with PMLD.

In addition, we create and deliver an annual SEND sports competition calendar for children throughout LLR with SEND, with a specific offer for special schools through our Inspire2 Programme. A number of sports such as boccia, new age kurling, football, athletics, polybat, table cricket, tennis and cricket are available for schools to access.

We also work to increase the number of pupils with SEND leading, coaching and officiating in sport and our Leadership Camps offer secondary school aged children with SEND to be given the opportunity to attend training to develop key transferable skills.

Lead Health and Wellbeing School

Crown Hills Community College - Health & Wellbeing Lead School for Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland

Crown Hills Community College is one of only 50 schools in England to be selected as a Lead School for Health and Wellbeing by the Youth Sport Trust.  Through this we join a national network of schools, all working towards enhancing the health and wellbeing of young people across the country.

Working with the charity, Youth Sports Trust (YST), Crown Hills will be playing an active part in developing school provisions aimed at:

  • Tackling the declining mental health in children and young people
  • Providing targeted support for enhancing wellbeing in male students
  • Reducing inactivity and improving physical, mental, and social health
  • Developing a whole-school health and wellbeing culture, through PE and sport

Through the programme, Crown Hills has developed leading approaches to programmes including:

Boys Move: an intervention programme for secondary aged boys who have been identified as having low confidence/self-esteem and/or negative behaviours within school and need support around emotional understanding/control and stress management.

Active in Mind: a Mental Health intervention in partnership with the Youth Sport Trust aimed at secondary aged children.

Me in Mind: an emotional literacy intervention programme for key stage 1 and 2 pupil premium or vulnerable children.

Move for Fun: a free in-school club to support inactive and disadvantaged students who may have struggled to settle, have some issues around engaging with PE and sport and need some support to enjoy activity and movement within school.
